Home Security Checklist for Central Florida Families
A practical walk-through for checking doors, cylinders, garages, sliding doors, and spare-key habits at home.

Walk the main entry points
- Exterior doors close and latch without lifting or slamming
- Deadbolts extend fully into the strike
- Frames and strike plates are firmly secured
- Keys turn smoothly without sticking
- Garage and side entries receive the same attention
Do not overlook secondary access
Check sliding doors, patio doors, garage-to-home doors, windows, and mailbox locks. A strong front-door lock does not solve a weak or forgotten secondary entry.
Review who has keys
After a move, renovation, tenant change, or lost-key event, decide whether to recover, rekey, or replace access. Keep spare keys controlled and avoid labeling them with the address.
